But if you're looking to become the next Michael Phelps, or just want to learn to swim in general, here are some tips.
The first thing u need to learn is to float.
  1. To float upside, just relax and pretend your on your bed. Make sure your back is slightly arched and u look to the sky.
  2. To float with your face in the water, just play dead.
Once you learn to float, you gotta move. Float with your face in the water. Place you hands over your head and tuck your chin. Start kicking with little to no movement on your knees.
When getting the hang of this, try starting to use hand movements.. Make sure you place on arm forward. Make a cup shape with your hand and make sure you push down with that hand. At the same time bring your other arm up and repeat.
This usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. Try taking it one step at a time. Enjoy.

Now if you want to do backstrokes, float on your belly..Place you hands over your head and tuck your chin. Start kicking with little to no movement on your knees. When getting the hang of this, try starting to use hand movements. Arch your arm backwards and cut the water with your pinky . At the same time bring your other arm up and repeat.
This usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. Try taking it one step at a time. Enjoy.
